Canal Street Station opened in 1904 as one of the original 28 stations of the New York Subway. It is located in the Chinatown and SoHo neighborhoods of Manhattan. Contrary to its name, there was never a canal at Canal Street. Although colonial plans wanted to include it, it was never built.
